It does make a difference. Although you will find a number of contractors who install cellulose insulation, very few will use a Dense Pack process. At Enerliv, we have taken this method and made improvements to both the equipment and the process to ensure optimal installation every time.

What does Dense Packing mean?

Dense Pack refers to a process whereby loose fill cellulose insulation is installed at densities greater than 3.0 pounds per cubic foot.

Enerliv’s Dense Pack wall insulation process is a superior home insulation solution. It is the best quality solution with the highest level of government approvals.

Superior Living Comfort, All Year Round

Using our Dense Pack process for retrofit wall installations we can provide a high R-value of 3.85 per inch or 15.4 in a standard wall cavity with Cellulose Insulation.

Using the same process with JM Spider insulation, we can provide an even higher R-value. The higher the R-value the better the insulation resists the flow of heat making you feel more comfortable.

There is another factor that plays a role in your comfort and that is air infiltration. Our Dense Pack process is better than the competitions at reducing air infiltration even when using the same product. The Dense Pack process installs cellulose fibre at densities between 3.5 and 4.0 pounds per cubic foot creating a virtually impenetrable barrier for drafts.

It is the reduction in drafts that will create a real upgrade in your comfort. This is all part of the Dense Pack difference.

A Government Approved Product

The Cellulose and JM Spider materials used in our Dense Pack process are Government approved by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC)

Time Tested and Proven Performance

Cellulose as an insulation product has been in use for more than forty years, and for good reason. It absolutely will not lose R-value over time unlike many foam products on the market today.

We have taken this excellent product and innovated the process used to install it to improve its application and performance even further. In addition, we offer JM Spider insulation from Johns Manville as an upgrade particularly for smaller wall cavities where every millimetre counts.

An Option to Insulate ANY Older Home

The innovations of our Dense Pack process enable us to provide an insulation solution for any older home. This includes homes which are partially or inadequately insulated such as those built between the mid 1940’s and late 1960’s.

Increased Fire Safety

Adding cellulose to your walls actually increases the fire safety of your home and blocks the spread of fire by 22% over other insulation materials. This is accomplished in two ways:

  1. The material itself is fire retardant.
  2. The density the insulation is packed using the Dense Pack process further reduces the spread of flame by minimizing air infiltration in the wall cavity.

Noise Reduction

Would a quieter home make you more comfortable? Cellulose itself has great sound attenuating properties. When installed using the Dense Pack process at high densities, the insulation provides an excellent sound barrier.
